Maroochy Holiday Information Sunshine Coast Queensland Australia

Buderim, sitting high on a plateau, the leafy garden village of Buderim Buderim offers panoramic views of the Sunshine Coast’s beautiful coastline, stretching from Noosa to the Glass House Mountains.

First settled in about 1860, the name Buderim comes from the local Aboriginal word for the ‘hairpin honeysuckle’ (Badderam), which grew freely on the areas slopes.

Buderim’s central location places visitors in close proximity to explore all the delights of the Sunshine Coast.

The village is only minutes from pristine beaches at Mooloolaba and Alexandra Headland and a short drive to Montville, the Hinterland and Eumundi. Brisbane is just an hour’s drive away.

For family fun explore the nearby tourist attractions along the Tanawha Tourist Drive. Golfers can enjoy a round at one of two local golf courses, located close to the town centre.

History buffs will be able to step back in time in Buderim’s Pioneer Cottage and Museum or walk along the trail of the historic Buderim to Palmwoods Heritage Tramway.

Buderim’s convenient location and it’s delightful blend of village life and natural beauty has seen this garden town acquire many new residents after visitors on holiday return here to live. The bustling village centre offers old-fashioned service and you’ll be spoilt for choice with nurseries, boutique fashion, gifts, antiques and art from nationally-acclaimed and local artists ... most within walking distance of each other in tree-lined streets.

Take a break in the selection of friendly cafes and fine restaurants, many of which offer al-fresco dining and fine local produce.  There’s also a market behind the Post Office every second Sunday.  And don’t forget to sample the gourmet product that made Buderim famous ... Buderim Ginger, which is still available locally.

Rest for a while and take in spectacular views from the Buderim Lions Lookout Park; or unwind and soak up the sights and sounds of a rainforest at Buderim Forest Park, which offers walking tracks with wheel chair access winding past waterfalls and swimming holes.
Picnic tables and a fine-dining restaurant are located at the base of the track.

The Maroochy Regional Bushland Botanic Gardens at nearby Tanawha also offers walking tracks in native forest with creeks, lagoons, wildlife and sculpture.

Beautiful walking tracks and picnic facilities can also be found at Foote Sanctuary.
Buderim also offers several parks with play facilities for children.
